First Congregational United Church of Christ has a rich history of social justice involvement and giving to our community, country and world. Many local nonprofit groups have benefited from the Christmas Home Tour which is in its 45th year. Lay Clergy events, now known as the "Mind and Soul Series" bring awareness to the Longmont community on issues such as immigration and mental health. Members have helped rebuild homes in Katrina stricken areas, worked with the OUR Center to provide help to the less fortunate in our community, and began the mental health support facility known as Soft Voices. See Missions for more information. For information on mental health education and support opportunities in our area please see http://www.ucclongmont.org/content/documents/INMI_Update_August2010.pdf. The Interfaith Network on Mental Illness (INMI) is an outreach program of NAMI Boulder County (serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties).
