September Featured Artist - Kathleen Reilly

The September artist is Kathleen Reilly, a local artist and church art coordinator. This exhibit features two sets of work. The first set is comprised of large oil paintings from the "Earth in Crises" series based on global climate problems.

The second set consists of small traditional still life oil paintings. The small paintings function as daily workout challenges to improve her painting skills.

News from Our Church Library

Among the titles added to our collection over the last few months are these favorites:

  • Living the Message: Daily Help For Living the God-Centered Life. Eugene H. Peterson, is known to many of us as the translator of The Message. This daily devotional doesn't have to begin with the calendar year, but anytime we feel our spiritual life could use a "pick-me-up."
  • Rhoda Janzen in the best seller, Mennonite in a Little Black Dress, has written "a memoir of going home." With wry humor and huge personality and tackling faith, love, family and aging, it is a laugh out loud story of memories and healing.
  • You won't want to miss this one: Putting Away Childish Things: A Tale of Modern Faith by one of our favorite authors, Marcus J. Borg.

"With a novelist's gift for creating plot and character, the New Testament scholar and theologian has written a book that succeeds not only as a work of fiction but an exploration of the kind of religious and social issues that divide many Christians today...."  - Frederick Buechner

We have also added four Habitat for Humanity books used at VBS and a number of DVDs and videos for children.
