Worship at UCC Longmont is:

Contemplative and Creative
God speaks to us in all kinds of ways. Here at UCC Longmont you'll find many typical elements of worship, including songs, spoken prayers and a sermon. (We call them reflections.)

You'll also find contemplative practices, including times of stillness, centering prayer or guided meditations. In a world filled with noise, these moments offer us the opportunity to hear the Spirit more fully.

Contemplative practice isn't just about sitting; it's about wholeness in body and soul. That means we honor all the ways we connect with God. Sometimes we write our prayers in colored pencils, leave time to walk the labyrinth, or have a prayer station where we share our reflections in a new way. These invitations are often playful, and always meaningful, ways to see that God is present in all of our lives.

Intergenerational
We believe the Spirit of God is present in people of all ages.
Kids will often participate in leading worship. All are invited to "Bring in the Light" at the beginning of the service, by carrying a candle forward to the table. Many Sundays, you'll find a child or teen reading scripture or leading prayer.
While we do offer Children's Church as an option on most Sundays, we also have times we all worship together. On the first Sunday of each month, children stay in the sanctuary for the whole service so that we can celebrate communion. (Everyone is welcome to take communion at UCC Longmont.) Holidays and other Sundays throughout the year are also intergenerational services.
This will often include something hands-on or kid-friendly during the reflection, like a picture book during the reflection, or a prayer station during a hymn.

On all Sundays, kids are welcome to remain in the sanctuary. There's always a coloring table, and there is often a prayer station.

Come As You Are
On any particular Sunday, you'll find people in their "Colorado Sunday best" and others in shorts and a t-shirt. You'll also find people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Our "come as you are" invitation includes your mind and spirit. We don't expect you to leave your questions at the door. In fact, you'll find others here share them. Our faith proclaims God meets us in the questions, and we know God is big enough to handle them. We also know that sometimes we come to Christian community celebrating and sometimes we show up hurting. We hold all of that together, remembering Paul's teaching to "rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn." (Romans 12:15)
No matter how you show up, you'll be welcomed. We have ushers to greet you and help you settle in. We mean it when we say, "no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here."
